Porcelain Tea Set with Gold Dots by YuishCeramics Porcelain Tea Set with Gold Dots by YuishCeramics
This tea set and tea infuser were made for my metal design class. The assignment was to make a tea infuser. I decided to make a porcelain tea set to go with the tea infuser since I am a ceramic artist. This set was glazed with a barium free blue celadon glaze and fired in a gas reduction kiln to cone 10. Then it was fired to cone 018 after gold luster was applied.

The infuser was both cast and fabricated. The spout and handle were cast with the lost wax method. The rest is all fabricated. The chain is soldered and will not come loose.

The teapot and infuser in this set will be featured in the upcoming book "500 Teapots: Volume 2."

They look... whimsical.  The two to either side look rather like they have faces, like something out of a cartoon.  I like that, I really do.

Thanks? Any anthropomorphism is accidental though, and probably just the photo.

I figured once I got a closer look, but it still did amuse me, and the set as a whole is beautiful work.

Ha. The price is low for the work and materials involved.
